A display of classic and vintage cars is set to wow crowds in Oban next weekend.

Under the Love Oban brand, the local Business Improvement District company Bid4Oban is organising Motor-Fest in association with Oban and District Classic Vehicle Club.

The cars will be on display at Mossfield Stadium from 1-4pm on Sunday September 20.

This is the second Motor-Fest, with last year’s event attracting 40 entries.

Among the attractions this year will be a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II, a red Ferrari 328GTS and a vintage rally car.

There will also be a two and four wheel auto jumble, a die-cast model display and trade displays from Hazelbank Motors and Argyll Agricultural Engineers.

Neil Mackay, events and marketing manager at Bid4Oban, said the Motor-Fest would take place on the day after Oban hosts the Camanachd Cup final.

It will also coincide with Mossfield holding the Ian MacMillan Memorial Junior Shinty Competition for primary school aged children.

Mr Mackay said: “Last year’s inaugural event was organised in association with Oban and District Classic Vehicle Club and proved to be great success with entrants from all over Scotland.

“We are really pleased to continue our partnership with the club who have told us of the interest from other clubs and individuals from afar for our Love Oban event.

“We have confirmation on a number of vehicles including the Ferrari and the Rolls Royce, last year’s show winners who hail from Aberdeen, are returning with some colleagues which sounds very promising.

“For 2015 we have expanded the event to incorporate local businesses that are in and around the motor trade.”

The winning car is the car which receives the most votes from people attending and participating in the motor show.

Kevin Devine, chairman of Oban and District Classic Vehicle Club, said: “We got the idea from a similar event in Inverness. We held it for the first time last year and that went very well. This year we have cars coming from Aberdeen, Fife and throughout Argyll.

“We welcome any interesting vehicles, cars, tractors, lorries, anything with wheels really.”
