Two Lochaber teenagers, who are on their way to becoming superstar DJs, will perform their first major gig at Groove Cairngorm this weekend.

Andrew Craig, 18, from Spean Bridge, and Blake McLean, 19, from Fort William, aka Noceur and Parjay, will be on the same bill as world-renowned Grandmaster Flash this Friday.

The pair have even quit their jobs as waiters at a Fort William hotel to allow them to open the festival in Aviemore.

They have been making electronic music since they were 14, while they were attending Lochaber High School and have thousands of followers on YouTube.

The duo have been inspired by Scotland’s superstar producer and DJ Calvin Harris.

Mr Craig said: “We continued making tracks all through high school. We knew which tracks would do well after playing them through the Bluetooth speaker in the sixth year common room. We made tracks every second we could.

“We signed our first record contract last year to Global Dance records, with a track called Mars.

“After we put pen to paper, our lives changed forever and from then we knew we could make it. Working hard ever since, we have landed ourselves another contract with Ensis records, and recorded a track called Pirates! which is out on March 28.

“What shocked us the most was realising we just signed to the same label as superstar producer and DJ Kygo.”

Mr Craig added that he and his friend and collaborator were very excited to be playing at Groove Cairngorm.

He continued: “It’s going to be amazing, but sadly, the hotel couldn’t see our potential in music and wouldn’t let us off to play at the Groove festival. We decided to leave to follow our dreams.

“It has been a huge struggle for us at times with money and feeling like we could never make it in the business. But we see ourselves reaching the top one day.”
