A Highland family triggered a celebration at the highest level when they moved into their new home.
When Gary and Nicola McIntosh and their two children turned the key to their house at Kiltarlity, near Beauly, it marked more than £100m being spent on bringing affordable homes to Scottish families.
The money has been invested in the Scotland-wide National Housing Trust (NHT) programme.
The Scottish Government scheme was created to provide affordable housing at 32 locations within 10 local authority areas, with more than 1,250 homes constructed since it was introduced late 2010.
Mrs McIntosh said: “Naturally, we’re absolutely delighted to have moved into this wonderful new home, which is considerably cheaper than where we lived before.
“Plus with an energy efficient heating system, solar panels on the roof and well insulated walls, our fuel bills will be halved. Importantly, moving into this home will help us get onto the property ladder which is the real bonus for us.”
Their new home is part of a small development built by Inverness company, William Gray Construction, for the Highland Housing Alliance, who also manage the property.
