A planning inquiry considering a proposed upgrade of Berriedale Braes is to be held in April.
The inquiry has been prompted by a single objection by local property owner Tom Johnston who is concerned about losing access as a result of the upgrade plans.
Transport Scotland’s preferred option to redesign the notorious A9 blackspot would result in the only vehicle access to Mr Johnston’s property being closed off.
The inquiry will be held in front of Scottish Government reporter Frances McChlery who will visit the site on April 4.
Both Transport Scotland and Mr Johnston will then state their cases at the inquiry hearing session which will begin on Tuesday, April 5 and is expected to last two days at Helmsdale Community Centre.
Ms McChlery will issue her judgement following this session.
Inverness-based businessman Mr Johnston has previously said he is “supportive” of the upgrade scheme but said he would not withdraw his objection until a solution was found which allowed him to keep access to his property.
Transport Scotland has said the access road is “not safe”.
