The search to find the AirAsia plane which disappeared earlier today has been halted for the night.
The plane, with 162 people on board including one Brit lost contact with ground control while flying over the Java Sea after taking off from a provincial city in Indonesia for Singapore.
The two countries immediately launched a search and rescue operation but there has been no sightings of the plane.
The Singapore air force and the navy have helped with the search, alongside two C-130 planes.
An expert has said the plane crew’s request to take a different route was strange as there did not seem to be anything wrong.
