Max Lowe open to another loan spell with Aberdeen next season

Max Lowe has not ruled out a third loan spell with Aberdeen next season.

The left-back has proved a popular figure since his arrival from Derby County early in the season, with the deal renewed in January to take him until the end of the season.

Much depends on what Derby plan for him next season, with his current Dons team-mate Graeme Shinnie set to follow him to Pride Park in the summer.

Lowe signed a new contract with Frank Lampard’s side before heading out on loan to Aberdeen and wants to be playing, wherever he starts the 2019-20 season.

“There’s always a chance and I’m not going to rule it out. I’ve said that I”ve loved my time up here so who knows? To be fair, the gaffer has said that we need to get through the last games before we can have a chat.

“I respect him highly. He’s done a lot for my career. It’s something to be thought about. Wherever I’m going to be after the summer, I want to be playing. I was 22 on Saturday – getting older I suppose. But I’m at an age where I need to be playing games.

“This is my first season playing 30-plus games and I feel like I’ve benefitted massively from that. Even the games I’ve not played well in I’ve come away thinking that there are a lot of things I can improve on. I feel like I have done. Wherever I am in pre-season, I want to be playing.”

Derby were beaten by/overcame Leeds in the Championship play-off semi-finals, after sneaking in on the last day of the regular season. The Rams already have three left-backs under contract – Ashley Cole, Craig Forsyth and Scott Malone – while new arrival Shinnie started his career in the same role.

Lowe added: “I think what ever happens in the playoffs they’ll still have a big squad. They’ve got a lot of left-backs on high money. I”m not really sure how their results will affect my situation. It could go either way. To be honest, I actually don’t know.

“I”ll take it day by day. I need to enjoy my last day at Aberdeen before I even think about that.”
