Aim is to keep Celtic’s Dembele quiet says Dons goalkeeper Lewis

Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis is not surprised by the impact Moussa Dembele has made at Celtic.

Manchester United sent a scout to watch Dembele in Celtic’s 4-0 win at Ross County, with the 20-year-old completing the scoring in injury time with his 15th goal of the campaign.

Lewis played alongside Dembele at Fulham last year and knows the Aberdeen defence has its work cut out to contain the free-scoring Frenchman in tomorrow’s meeting at Pittodrie.

He said: “Moussa is a very good player who will only get better under Brendan Rodgers.

“I played with him last year and was more concerned about how he was developing then.

“These days, I’m not too fussed – I just want to make sure he doesn’t score this weekend.

“Moussa will go on to have a very good career, he’s shown he’s capable of doing it at the top level in the Champions League.

“He’s scored in big matches for Celtic and he will also score a lot of goals domestically because he will get served up six or seven chances in every game.

“A lot of people are talking about him, they’re taking notice of how well he’s doing. We saw how good he was at Fulham, so I already know a bit about him.

“The aim will be to keep him quiet but you can’t focus on one player because they have another nine outfield players who can hurt you.

“So, we’ll be working on a way to keep the whole Celtic team quiet – not just Moussa.”
