Scottish youngster Jack Harper is reportedly set to leave Real Madrid and sign for English Championship side, Brighton.

Harper, 19, joined Real Madrid as a 13-year-old and still has two years left on his contract with the Spanish giants, however, after Madrid decided to scrap their third team, Harper was forced to consider his future in Spain.

The Scotland Under-19 star has had a number of offers from clubs in Spain, Italy and England but according to reports in today’s Daily Mail, Harper will leave Madrid to sign for Chris Hughton’s English Championship side.

Harper, born on the Costa del Sol to parents from Barrhead, has never hidden his desire to play for Scotland and has represented the couuntry at under-17 and under-19 levels.

Scotland under-19 boss Ricky Sbragia controversially dropped Harper from his squad in March, labelling him a “luxury” player, this alerted the Spanish FA who made approaches, however, Harper remained adamant he wants to play for Scotland.

Brighton are yet to confirm the move, however, the signing would be quite the coup for the team who finished 20th in last season’s Championship table.
