Angus Watt scores four as Kintore United FC defeat Huntly FC in seven-goal thriller

One goal decided an even game as Kintore United FC won 4-3 at home to Huntly FC in the U16 C on Saturday.

Kintore United FC’s assistant coach Kevin Watt said: “It was our first home game of the season, the first game we’ve had in five weeks, and for long spells it looked like it.

“We did have a few players out or carrying knocks but were 3-0 up and comfortable early on.

“Then for some reason, our midfield decided to stop playing.

“We got to half-time and swapped a few things around, but it didn’t seem to make much difference; if anything, we were worse.

“Huntly got a goal back, and our lads still didn’t take the hint and allowed Huntly to soon pull level.

“Credit to our lads, though, as they dug in thereafter and got the winner with also what appeared to be an excellent well worked team goal chopped off for a questionable off-side late on, too; it was probably the best goal of the game, so that was frustrating.

“Although it was a close result, I think we made it harder for ourselves through missed chances and perhaps complacency, which we warned them against.

“Angus Watt scored all four and finished the one that was disallowed, too, so a great performance from him.

“Huntly are due to take points off of someone soon, and we are just happy it wasn’t us.”

Kintore United FC have three wins, one draw and one loss with a goal difference of 24 goals for and 8 against over the last five games, while Huntly FC have and five losses and a goal difference of 7 goals for and 36 against.

Kintore United FC are in second place after the game, while Huntly FC are in eighth and last. Kintore United FC are 3 points behind Northstar CFC.

The last match between the teams ended in a 10-0 away win for Kintore United FC in September 2022.

Kintore United FC have 24 goals in total. They have scored four goals at home and 20 goals away in the U16 C.

Huntly FC have scored 7 goals in this campaign. Away from home they have scored three goals and four goals on home ground.
