Dons fans will be relieved it is the man on the left, rather than the right who has applied for the job
Dons fans will be relieved it is the man on the left, rather than the right who has applied for the job

An Aberdeen fan from Inverurie has emerged as a shock candidate for the manager’s job at a football club based in the far south of England.

Conference Premier side Eastleigh sacked manager Richard Hill after a disappointing run of results, since Hill’s sacking the club have not been short of applicants, with 40 bosses throwing their hat into the ring.

Those 40 applicants include four with international experience and one with the experience of watching the Dons every week.

Oil and gas worker Gareth Wright adopted Eastleigh as his team at the start of the season and now, in his club’s hour of need, he has applied for the job.

In his application letter, shown below, the Dons fan explains how he came to be an Eastleigh man and explains why he is the man to get the Spitfires flying this season.

Gareth highlights his previous football experience both on Football Manager and FIFA and also quells any logistics concerns by outlining his travel plans.
