What: Civic dinner to honour Northern Counties Cricket Club’s 150th anniversary.

Where: Inverness Town House.

Who: Around 60 people attended, including the new provost of Inverness, Councillor Helen Carmichael, and Councillors Mrs B. McAllister, Ms J. Slater and Mr H. Wood. Representing the cricket club were current president Stewart Lackie, vice-presidents Andrew Callanan and Bob Miller, current first-team captain Mike Evans, vice-captain Dave Dugdale, former presidents W. J. (Bill) Dishington and Charles Gallagher, and former captains Nick MacKenzie, Neil Gallacher, Colin Duncan and Cameron Leckie.
Representing Nairn (Northern Counties’ first-ever opponents in 1865) was current Nairn County Cricket Club chair Kim Neill.
Why: The club was formed in 1864 and the first match was against Nairn Union at the Northern Meeting Park in 1865. The dinner was to honour the cricket club’s long history and involvement with the community in Inverness.
Funds were raised at the dinner on behalf of Cricket Scotland for the Nepal Earthquake Appeal.
