People from across the north-east have been invited to bid a fond farewell to the spectacular Light The North lighthouse sculptures in a special event at Gordon Barracks in Aberdeen.

Artist Kym Parker's Light The North sculpture is inspired by the lighthouse she would often see growing up in Arbroath - The Bell Rock Lighthouse - which happens to be the world's oldest surviving sea-washed lighthouse and one of the Seven Wonders of the Industrial World.
Taking inspiration from her personal experience, Lorna Jappy hopes her Light The North lighthouse will remind visitors that they are never alone - even though they may feel lonely and isolated when someone they love is battling cancer.
