Lifelong dream comes true for pigeon fancier

A NORTH-EAST pensioner has finally ended a 28-year losing streak after winning pigeon racing’s equivalent of the Grand National.

Retired blacksmith Gordon Willox, of Peterhead, is the toast of pigeon fanciers after his bird, Heather’s Dream, triumphed in the King George Gold Cup.

Mr Willox, 65, said it was a “dream come true” as he has entered the race every year since 1980 — with 25th place his previous best finish.
