Billie Eilish has postponed a string of tour dates in North America, as the entertainment industry continues to grapple with the fallout of Covid-19.

The Grammy Award-winning pop sensation is the latest artist to either cancel or push back performances, amid the public health crisis engulfing the world.

Eilish, 18, has postponed 11 tour dates in US cities including Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Brooklyn and Chicago.

A spokesman for the star said rearranged dates will be announced soon and all purchased tickets will be honoured.

Eilish said: “I’m so sad to do this but we need to postpone these dates to keep everyone safe. We’ll let you know when they can be rescheduled. Please keep yourselves healthy. I love you.”

A host of artists have been forced to scrap portions of their tour, with the coronavirus throwing the entertainment industry into disarray.

Rock band The Who postponed their UK and Ireland tour due to concerns around fan safety while country music duo Dan and Shay pushed their US arena tour from spring to July.

Pearl Jam also postponed their North America tour while a scores of other events have been impacted.

The world famous Coachella music festival will take place in October, not April as originally planned, and several high-profile films have also seen their release dates moved.
