Aberdeen recruitment firm AAA can justifiably feel satisfied about its commitment to local worthy causes.
Firstly, it is a proud sponsor of one of the north-east’s top golfers.
Its support for Michele Thomson of Ellon has helped the former Scottish women’s amateur champion go on to do well on the professional circuit.
She returned to the game she loves earlier this year after a spell in the police force and now hopes to achieve her dream of becoming one of the top women golfers in the world.
But there is another reason why AAA – Aberdeen Appointments Agency – and its staff feel proud of their community involvement.
The company leapt at the chance of adopting one of the fibreglass dolphins which went on public display at various locations around Aberdeen this summer in an art project.
AAA’s sponsorship led to one of the sculptures, Dolphmarine, taking up residence outside the company’s Leggart Terrace offices before it joined its 49 friends at a charity auction at Aberdeen Music Hall on September 10.
Dolphmarine attracted lots of interest from passers-by and people taking part in the Wild Dolphins trail around the city.
All 50 Wild Dolphin sculptures were sold to the highest bidders, raising more than £500,000 for the ARCHIE Foundation, the official charity of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, and Whale and Dolphin Conservation.
Founded more than 40 years ago, AAA has a history of support for local sporting talent and other worthy causes.
Managing director Gus Porter said: “The firm has always been part of the local community.
“We take our social responsibilities seriously and are proud to support many local charities”.
He added: “We also sponsor golfer Michele Thomson and congratulate her on her achievements over the past year.”
AAA places “high-calibre” staff with employers throughout the UK and overseas.
The company is among the Silver sponsors for Saturday’s Press and Journal Energy Ball at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Around 1,400 people are expected to attend the event, which is being held in association with AgustaWestland and Bristow Helicopters.
