Killer heels and cocktails bring charity and glamour together

Women from the north-east will soon be dressing up for charity.

Killer Heels and Cocktails raised £117,000 last year for Action Medical Research, and this year they are strutting back for the sixth time.

Taking place at the Beach Ballroom on November 11, the glamorous event has seen more than £400,000 donated to charity. Action Medical Research funds medical research to beat the diseases that affect children, and the ladies at the fundraiser will be putting on their glad rags for a good cause.

Iona Crawford has been a sponsor of the event for the past two years. One of the prizes from a live auction on the night is a series of consultations to create a bespoke garment. Iona also donates scarves and other smaller products for sale to help raise money for Action.

“I believe in all of their values,” said Iona.

A graduate of the Edinburgh college of art, she established her brand in 2007. Iona is an artist and fashion designer and combines her passions for fine art and design while creating timeless artisan pieces of clothing.

Iona was brought up on a farm in rural Stirlingshire. The countryside and Scotland feature heavily in her works and she is often inspired by the beauty of nature.

But what do you wear to an event like this?

1. Sparkly shoes Dorothy would be jealous of.

2. A flowing evening gown for when the kilted butlers sweep you off your feet.

3. A hairstyle Rapunzel would envy – book yourself in for an up-do and pamper yourself before the busy evening.
