Top Scottish designers – and shoppers – are expected to “flock” to a contemporary Christmas fair this weekend at The Barn, Banchory.
More than 40 professional designers and makers are taking part in Flock, a curated Christmas fair, which brings together professional Scottish artists, designers and makers from across the north-east and further afield.
Barn director Lorraine Grant said: “As a professional arts centre, we are keen to celebrate the best local talent as well as bringing in creative talent from elsewhere in Scotland. Having so many talented makers and designers under one roof creates a pretty special atmosphere in the Barn, so we are very excited to be organising it again this year.”
The fair includes many different media and craft, including textiles, ceramics, jewellery, printmaking and much more. New among the 43 stall holders this year are Helen Ruth Scarves, Emma Wylie Jewellery and The Cloud Pottery.
Flock will take place on Saturday, November 19 from 10am-5pm and from 10am-4pm on Sunday, November 20. Entry is free and there is on-site parking.
At the same time, a second Flock event called Heckleburn will take place in Blackhall, near Banchory, when artists Hilary Duncan, Sarah Pooley, Helen Jackson and Mel Shand will have ceramics, textiles, baskets and paintings on show. The “fringe” event is organised as a trial, with the aim of developing Flock as a larger event next year.
