On Thursday, February 12, there’s a chance to travel the world and experience a selection of inspirational, exhilarating and unforgettable adventures without leaving the comfort of your theatre chair as the Banff Mountain Film Festival visits Inverness as part of its world tour.

The festival showcases a diverse collection of the best and latest films from the global mountain-sports community. The-two-and-a-half-hour programme has been selected from more than 370 films which were entered into the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival, held in the Canadian Rockies in November last year. Highlights of this year’s programme include The Ridge, with world-renowned trials rider Danny MacAskill, from Skye, riding a mountain bike on the notorious death-defying Cuillin Ridge line.

Also being shown is Into the Empty Quarter, inspired by the journey of one of Britain’s great explorers, Wilfred Thesiger, through the world’s largest sand desert; Alastair Humphreys and Leon McCarron attempt a journey of their own into the same Empty Quarter. In Drawn, there are four epic adventures with acclaimed climber and artist Jeremy Collins who embarks on journeys, from the Venezuelan Amazon to the China-Mongolian Border, to the northern reaches of Canada, and to Yosemite Valley in California. This powerful adventure, with the death of a friend, the struggle of a tribe and the celebration of life, changes everything.

The festival is at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, tonight, February 12, and tomorrow, February 13, with performances starting at 7.30pm nightly. Contact 01463 234234 or visit www.eden-court.co.uk
