Nicola Sturgeon is the front-runner to become the next first minister, according to bookies.
Both William Hill and Ladbrokes put the deputy first minister odds-on favourite at 1/3 and 1/4, respectively.
Yesterday, Alex Salmond announced to a packed press conference at Bute House in Edinburgh that he would be stepping down as First Minister and leader of the SNP following the Yes campaign’s defeat in the independence referendum.
As well as Ms Sturgeon, William Hill also tip Angus Robertson at 6/1 and both Alex Neil and Derek Mackay at 8/1 as the other front-runners at this early stage.
Ladbrokes also tip Alex Neil and Derek Mackay as the other front-runners along with Mike Russell, John Swinney and Humza Yousaf and ties all five at 10/1.
