A gathering of ale enthusiasts on Deeside proved so popular in its inaugural year that it will be returning sooner than expected in 2015.

Organisers behind the summer’s hugely successful Banchory Beer Festival will bring even more rare and unique drinks to the town’s Woodend Barn in February.

Beer at the Barn will offer local food, live music and the best beer, cider and gin available from Deeside and across Scotland.

The event is organised by Banchory brothers and beer-lovers, Mungo and Guy Finlayson.

Mungo, 25, said they wanted to organise the winter festival due to the “success and popularity” of the first gathering.

He said: “After a bit of research we discovered there weren’t a huge number of events on offer during the first few months of the year. We thought Beer at the Barn would be something unique for people to look forward to.

“Due to the size of the Woodend Barn we’ve had to scale the event down to more of a mini-winter beer festival.”

Gin from the likes of Warner Edwards and beer from Livingston-based Alechemy Brewing – who concocted a special Banchory Brew for the summer festival – will be on offer.

Mungo added: “We want to build the Banchory Beer Festival brand as a top quality unique festival, each time trying to add on something new.”

Beer at the Barn will be held from February 6-7.
