Mark Mcdonald called the news a "blow" to the Dyce community
A north-east MSP has hit out at Aberdeen City Council after a further delay was confirmed over the construction of a 3G football pitch at Dyce Academy.
Mark McDonald, who represents Aberdeen Donside, said the news was “another blow” for the community.
He said: “I am disappointed by the admission work will not start on the site until January 2016 – over two years since the funding announcement for the pitch.
“This is with a likely completion date of April 2016.
“The Dyce Community have been calling out for delivery of their pitch for quite some time, and this is another disappointing blow to the area.”
But Aberdeen City Council has insisted the work will begin in January.
A letter, which was written in response to Mr McDonald said:
“We are currently in the process of reviewing the submitted tender documents, after which a contractor will be appointed.
“It is anticipated that work will start on site in early January, with a completion date of April 2016.”
