A father and son armed themselves with weapons to confront a man who had made a sexual allegation against one of them.

Roy Mutter, a 53-year-old unemployed man from Ardival Terrace, Strathpeffer, and his 20 year old son, Roy Jnr of the same address yesterday appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Both admitted a breach of the peace by fighting in MacEwan Drive, Inverness on October 22 last year.

The court was told yesterday that the other man also brought weapons.

Fiscal depute Ross Carvel said a fight then ensued involving a metal police and a baseball bat. Roy Jnr, the subject of the allegation, sustained a broken arm, Mr Carvel went on.

Defence solicitor Neil Wilson said: “Mr Mutter senior was old enough to know better and foolish to get involved.

“It was a dispute which should have been resolved in a more civilised way.”

Roy Jnr’s lawyer, Natalie Paterson added: “Drink had been taken.”

Each man was fined £400.
