A hot tub thief attacked a man with a baseball bat in a drug-related street assault in Aberdeen.
Residents of Rosehill Drive in Aberdeen looked out of their windows on hearing a disturbance around 1.50pm on June 9, and saw prolific shoplifter Amanda Ingham along with two males.
Ingham, 52, was seen wielding a baseball bat and then hitting one of the men, understood to be her partner or ex-partner, on the leg with it, causing him to fall to the ground.
In a separate string of shoplifting offences, Ingham even nabbed a hot tub from B&Q in Garthdee.
Fiscal depute Jennifer Pritchard told Aberdeen Sheriff Court: “At around 1.50pm on June 9 2022, witnesses were within their respective home addresses when they became aware of a disturbance outside.
‘I tapped him with a baseball bat’
“On looking outside, they observed the accused and two males.
“The accused was seen to be in possession of a baseball bat and was seen to strike one of the men on the leg with the bat, causing him to fall over.”
“The man then got back to his feet and ran off.”
Police were contacted and traced Ingham around 4pm.
While under caution, Ingham stated to the officers: “Because I tapped him with a baseball bat, is that it?”
Ms Pritchard also took the court through a number of shoplifting offences committed around Aberdeen by Ingham.
Ingham admitted eight shoplifting charges
On December 9 last year, she visited the BP filling station on North Deeside Road, Peterculter, and stole £271.25 of alcohol and meat.
On April 5, Ingham stole jewellery and a purse worth £157 from Claires Accessories in the St Nicholas Centre.
Three days later she helped herself to £163 of clothing from Next in the Bon Accord Centre.
On April 30, Ingham targeted Smyths Toys on Links Road and stole £236.85 worth of toys.
The next day she hit The White Company in Union Square, stealing £109 worth of household items.
A pressure washer and barbecue, worth £767, were the next items to be stolen from Bridge of Don’s B&Q on May 12.
On June 8, Garthdee’s B&Q was targeted, with the hot tub being stolen.
And on June 23 at Morrisons on King Street, Ingham stole alcohol and clothing.
Ingham, of Cornhill Court, Aberdeen, pled guilty to possession of an offensive weapon, assault and eight charges of shoplifting.
Sheriff Lesley Johnston said she noted the offences were “directly linked to drug addiction” and imposed a 12-month drug treatment and testing order.
