‘Sozzled’ chef exposed himself after getting drunk to mark Covid redundancy

Faris Hussein.
Faris Hussein.

A “sozzled” chef exposed himself and spat at police after a drinking session to mark the closure of his workplace due to Covid.

Faris Hussein and his restaurant colleagues were laid off at the beginning of the pandemic but were allowed to enjoy the leftover food and alcohol that would otherwise have gone to waste.

However, the 37-year-old drank too much and ended up getting into a scuffle with his co-workers, who pushed him off his bike and threw one of his shoes into a bush.

And when police arrived, the “sozzled” Hussein exposed his penis to a female officer and made a sexual remark.

He also assaulted two other police officers by spitting at them.

Hussein was criticised about ‘the manner of his wife’s parking’

The incident happened on King Street in Aberdeen on March 21 2020.

But when Hussein – who previously appeared in court after drinking himself unconscious while lamenting the fact that Boris Johnson had won the General Election – was hauled back to the police station at Kittybrewster his conduct continued.

This time turning his attention towards a male officer, Hussein moved his hips towards him while making a sexual comment.

Hussein, of Sunnyside Road, Aberdeen, pled guilty to intentionally exposing his genitals, assault, and directing a sexual communication without consent.

And he also admitted a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at Aulton Court on March 3 2020.

‘Your behaviour was deplorable’

Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard that during that incident Hussein had been in a car park fixing his partner’s vehicle.

Defence agent Peter Keene explained that while he was doing that, a neighbour approached and began to “criticise” him about “the manner of his wife’s parking”.

Hussein ended up shouting, swearing and acting aggressively.

He also made a threat and presented a “metal cross wheel nut tool” or similar item.

Regarding the restaurant incident, Mr Keene said his client “drank more than he should” and had found himself “completely sozzled”.

The solicitor said: “He can’t actually remember the incident, but he accepts, from the police statements, that his behaviour went well beyond what one would expect from this man.”

Sheriff William Summers told Hussein: “Your behaviour was deplorable.”

He ordered him to be supervised for two years, carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and be subject to the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act for two years.
