Tea in the Cark Park festival goes live in Highlands

Students from the North Highland College UHI, Alness campus, plan to showcase their talents at a free music festival based at the campus, which will take place today.

The quirkily-named Tea in the Car Park festival will feature live music from a selection of college bands, including Peach Trees, The Stilton Brothers, Almost Folk, Bee and Matthew, James and Finlay, Imogen Hay, Hollie Atkinson and Autumn Sun, along with local bands the Kitty Black Band, Atlas and Silver Coast

The North Highland College UHI campus at Alness Point Business Park specialises in music and sound production as well as child health and social care courses. As well as listening to the bands playing on two stages, there will be lots of fun activities for children in a creche, while visitors can discover what campus has to offer and celebrate the hard work of the students.

Course leader for HNC Music and Sound Production Peter Noble said: “This is great opportunity for us to celebrate the hard work and creative energy of our students and to put on an event that will test their developing skills.”

The students have been heavily involved in the planning process of this event and are looking forward to testing what they have learned at the college. Student Ellie Wagstaff, from Dornoch, said: “It will be good to test the skills I have learned in live sound and it’s been great to get an idea of how many different things are involved in putting on a big event.”

The free festival takes place from noon to 4.30pm. Contact: www.northhighland.uhi.ac.uk.
