A woman found seriously injured in Fort William is in a stable condition in a Glasgow hospital according to police.
The 27-year-old was discovered yesterday morning near steps between Fassifearn Road and Union Road in Fort William.
She was found by a member of the public at around 6am but it is not clear how long she had lain there.
A police spokeswoman said this morning that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
Police previously said her injuries as “potentially life-changing”.
Mystery surrounds the circumstances of her injuries, but one line of inquiry taken by police is that she fell down a nearby steep embankment.
She was initially taken to the local Belford Hospital in Fort William but was later airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow due to the severity of her injuries.
