Edward Mountain, the Conservative’s candidate for Inverness and Nairn, said he is confident that his party will perform well in this year’s election.
Mr Mountain, a local farmer and businessmen, said: “We’ve had an excellent campaign, and delivered more leaflets than ever, more than 14,000 in the constituency.
“Today and yesterday we’ve rung more than 2,500 people, and we’ve had a great response for Ruth as well as for me, and people believe that Ruth will be the strong opposition in parliament to the SNP.
“So we’re happy, we’re pleased, and we’re looking forward to it.”
