Youngsters at a Forres primary school are enjoying their gym classes even more thanks to their former cohorts.
Earlier this year, Anderson’s Primary challenged its outgoing P7s to raise money in an enterprise project to pay for their leavers’ celebration.
They managed to not only raise enough cash for a day out at Landmark, but also to create a lasting legacy to the school – and make a donation to charity Mary’s Meals.
Now, thanks to their efforts, pupils still at the school are enjoying better access to the rope beam in the gym hall.
Head teacher Maureen Mooney said the school staff are proud of the former pupils’ achievement, and see them as “a shining example of community spirit.”
She said: “The children wanted to move the rope beam in the gym hall to a different position that would enable it to be used more easily without the pre-planning and preparation that was required.
“The ropes were re-positioned during the summer holidays and has already been a great hit with staff and children alike, who have all been making good use of the easy access to the apparatus.
“The cost for the work was £390.”
The budding entrepreneurs also had enough left over – after paying for a bus, day entry to Landmark, personalised hoodies and a yearbook for each P7 – to donate £735.89 to their chosen charity, Mary’s Meals.
