Caley Thistle paid the price for their profligacy as they went down 3-0 against Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic.
Gary Warren and Jordan Roberts passed up great chances before Gary Mackay-Steven broke the deadlock nine minutes after the break.
Celtic’s top scorer Leigh Griffiths doubled Celtic’s advantage five minutes later with his 31st goal of the season before adding his side’s third deep in injury time.
The result extends Celtic’s lead at the top to six points over second place Aberdeen.
The Hoops named the same starting XI that had defeated Ross County 2-0 last weekend with former Inverness player Ryan Christie and Manchester City loan player Patrick Roberts both named on the bench.
Unsurprisingly, Inverness also elected to stick with the same side that had performed so well in Monday’s 3-1 win against Aberdeen.
Both teams created opportunities in the opening exchanges with Mackay-Steven’s powerful effort deflecting over for a fruitless corner, while Miles Storey’s effort at the other end was too high to trouble Craig Gordon.
Warren should have broken the deadlock after 17 minutes when Celtic goalkeeper Gordon misjudged a deep Iain Vigurs cross but the defender somehow headed wide with an open goal at his mercy.
Inverness continued to frustrate the hosts and had another chance to break the deadlock soon after when Ross Draper’s powerful skelp deflected inches wide.
Celtic came more into the game as the half wore on but were restricted to speculative attempts from distance by a well-organised Caley Thistle rearguard.
The Inverness superiority continued after the break with the visitors passing up another gilt-edged opportunity within three minutes of the restart.
This time it was Roberts who darted clear of Erik Sviatchenko but the attacking midfielder shot straight at Gordon when he should have done much better.
The Caley Jags were to rue that miss with the Hoops opening the scoring on their next attack when the ball broke kindly to Mackay-Steven inside the area and the former Dundee United midfielder volleyed the ball beyond Owain Fon Williams.
Celtic doubled their advantage five minutes later when their top scorer Griffiths created an opening for himself with some neat footwork inside the penalty area before slotting home with the aid of the post.
The Hoops introduced Scott Allan and former Inverness player Christie for Stuart Armstrong and Stefan Johansen soon after.
With eight minutes left and the Celts coasting to victory, Roberts, who joined Celtic on loan from Manchester City last month, came on for Mackay-Steven for his first appearance.
Griffiths completed the scoring in injury time with another smart finish after good build-up play by substitutes Christie and Roberts.
