Two high-profile bands have been announced to headline the Oban Live music festival.
Former chart-toppers Toploader and 1980s legends Hue and Cry will be making their way to the west coast town for the outdoor concert on June 2 and 3.
The two acts will top the bill at Argyll’s largest live music event at Mossfield Stadium.
Oban Live attracted 7,800 visitors last year. And this time around, Friday’s headliners, Toploader, will perform tracks from their fourth album Seeing Stars.
Their new single “Roll With The Punches” was premiered on Graham Norton’s Radio 2 show last weekend.
Classics, such as their global hit Dancing in the Moonlight from 2000, are also set to be highlights on the night.
Their visit to Oban will be the band’s second trip to the west coast after they headlined the Tiree Music Festival in 2012.
Meanwhile, Pat and Greg Kane of Hue And Cry are set to lead the bill on Saturday with an eight-piece band.
The duo made a huge impact in the late 80s with massive hit singles including Labour of Love and albums Seduced and Abandoned and Remote. Their Oban Live gig will showcase tracks from their new Pocketful of Stones album, due for release later this year.
Martin Gillespie from the Oban Live team and piper for Skerryvore said: “We are thrilled that these two iconic bands have agreed to join us at Oban Live in June and we are excited to hear their new material as well as performances of their classic songs.
“It will be great to see the Toploader lads again after joining them on stage on Tiree back in 2012 – perhaps we can do it again in June.”
The line-up also includes Skerryvore, Skipinnish, We Banjo 3, Trail West, Manran, Tide Lines, Admiral Fallow, Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire, Ceol an Aire and the Argyll Ceilidh Trail and Oban High School Pipe Band.
