Youngsters from across the north-east descended on P&J Live this weekend for a one-of-a-kind building event.
More than 10 million bricks were transported up to the new arena for BrickLive – the first time the popular family-friendly event has been in the Granite City.
Visitors of all ages enjoyed an array of events, displays and hands-on fun.
The exhibition was the ultimate event for Lego fans – with a centrepiece of the event an ocean made entirely from the tiny bricks.
The BrickLive Ocean is the latest touring exhibit from the show’s master builders and allows those who attend the chance to learn some more about the ocean’s most popular and endangered species, from tuna to giant squid.
The focal point of this exhibit was the killer whale, which took 20 builders around 550 hours and a whopping 230,726 bricks to complete.
Younger visitors were able to enjoy Lego’s double sized sibling DUPLO, where they too were able to build their own creations.
And budding designers could also creating their own skylines in the Architecture Zone. A range of tools were laid out for the future architects to enable them to make skyscrapers, mansions, bridges and hotels before putting it on show for the rest of the attendees to admire.
There was also an inflatable assault course, a ninja-themed zone and even a race circuit for people to build their own vehicle and test its endurance.
