Tributes have been paid to a “big hearted” who died in an early morning crash in Aberdeenshire over the weekend.
David Tolmie, 43, died after his car came off the road at the Muchalls bend near Stonehaven.
He was described as “big hearted” and “invincible” by his family today.
Mr Tolmie lived Cove and was known to his friends and family as ‘Flea’.
Originally from Dundee, he is survived by his long-term partner Ann, his parents Kenny and Anne, his sister Rosslyn and three nephews.
Mr Tolmie, an avid supporter of Dundee United FC, was also the owner of a Basset Hound Dougal, who he loved to bits, his family said.
A family statement said: “We are shocked and stunned by what has happened and cannot believe we will not see David, or Flea, again.
“David was such a thoughtful person and touched the lives of everyone he met and will be missed by so many. Flea had such a big heart and was invincible to us.
“David was a massive fan of Dundee United and regularly attended matches to cheer the team on. We will be taking him home to Dundee where he was so popular.
“As well as being a committed and loving family man, David was also dedicated to his Bassett Hound, Dougal who he got from a rescue home and loved to bits.
The fatal accident, which involved only Mr Tomlie’s black BMW 328 coupe, happened at around 4.40am on Saturday.
Police urged any witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Neil Morrison from the Aberdeenshire and Moray Road Policing Unit said: “Our investigation into what happened on Saturday continues and we would ask that anyone who has information contacts Police Scotland.”
