A care home group has expanded into the north-east with a £22million investment in two establishments.

Care Concern Group acquired Rowan Court Care Home at Cults 18 months ago and in April snapped up the  Rubislaw Park Care Home in the city’s West End from Crossreach, which is operated by the Church of Scotland.

The investment includes extensive upgrades for both the properties.

Work on the 64-bed Rubislaw Park home includes the rejuvenation of lounges and the creation of a new restaurant/dining room, a bar, a celebration room for private functions, a spa salon and library. The refurbishment will be unveiled during an opening event on August 28.

Rowan Court has also received extensive attention, with completion of the first phase of a £3million redevelopment focusing on residents lounges, dining rooms and bedrooms. Phase two, which is currently under way, sees work focus on upgrading the remaining bedrooms as well as the creation of a new entrance atrium, spa, cinema and café.

In addition, the home recently took delivery of a Mercedes Benz car which will be available, with a staff driver, for use by any resident who wants to use the service.

Care Concern director Paul Beaumont said: “Our focus is firmly on raising standards within the care sector and on high-end living environments with additional services which are not normally provided in care facilities for the elderly, such as chauffeur driven cars, bars, etc.”

The Slough-based firm employs 150 people in the region and expects to hire more. It has a portfolio of more than 20 care facilities, mainly in Scotland.

Mr Beamont added: “Organic growth lies at the heart of our business model and we are currently exploring a range of options to enhance our presence in the north-east of Scotland.”
