A north-east teenager, who took a knife to her former girlfriend and caused her to use a window to escape, is facing detention.

Rebecca Johnstone was with Caitlin Walker at a property in Menzies Road in Aberdeen when she became violent and said she was going to “slit her throat.”

She eventually moved into the kitchen and took a hold of the knife. which she used to threaten her partner.

Ms Walker later went out of the property through a window and sought police assistance.

She saw Johnstone leave through the main entrance and she was picked up by officers on Grampian Place with the knife still in her possession.

The 18-year-old confessed to the assault during an appearance at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.

Johnstone, of Jamaica Street, also admitted to an attack on a 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The court heard she struck him with a piece of glass which he blocked with his hand and is likely to be left with a scar as a result.

Sheriff Jack Brown deferred sentence on her in order to obtain reports.

He warned her detention was likely and said: “It the reports are not extremely positive, I will have only one thing in mind.”

She will return to court later this month.
