Aberdeen magicians to perform at world-famous venue

Two Aberdeen-based magicians are taking their feats of prestidigitation to London for a prestigious show.

Performing under their stage name of Smith & Burns, Ivor Smith and Jeff Burns will perform at the Magic Circle on December 3.

The venue, which was founded in 1905, boasts an international membership of 1,500 magicians, including famous performers such as Derren Brown and Dynamo.

Mr Burns said: “It’s an incredible honour to be invited to perform for your peers.

“Any magician’s triple dream venues are the Magic Castle in Hollywood, a show in Las Vegas and London’s Magic Circle.

“We have now appeared at the Magic Castle twice and headlined in Las Vegas, so to get to perform at the Magic Circle is amazing.

“We also think this is the first time that any magicians from the north east of Scotland have performed their full show at the Magic Circle.”

The pair will take to the stage on December 3

The news is the latest in a series of coups for the magical duo this year.

In August, the double act joined a group of internationally-renowned magicians and television personalities to perform on the Legends of Magic cruise, quickly followed by an appearance in the International Stars of Magic and Variety show at the International Brotherhood of Magicians’ annual convention.

Mr Smith added: “This has been an incredible year for us and performing at the Magic Circle will be the icing on the cake.

“Following our successful debut cruise earlier this year, the promoters have already been in touch to talk about further cruises in 2019.”
