Thousands lined the streets to watch one of Scotland’s most iconic Hogmanay celebrations.
Residents from Stonehaven turned out to watch the town’s annual fireball ceremony, where participants make their way through the centre to the harbour accompanied by the pipes.
The event can be traced back to the early 1900s and involves locals swinging fireballs above their heads starting at the stroke of midnight.
The ceremony is regarded as one of the best Hogmanay spectacles in Scotland.
