Inverurie children have taken part in a “wee sleep out” to help raise awareness of homelessness.
A group of Logie Durno Primary School pupils hunkered down to sleep in their school ground overnight.
Children between the ages of five and 11, armed with sleeping bags and warm clothes, were left “tired but proud” yesterday, headteacher Elizabeth McMahon said.
She added: “We had games in the dark with torches, along with supper and stories.
There was a real focus on understanding what it’s like for people who have no homes at this difficult time of year.
“We could not be more proud that every child managed to stay the whole night through.
“We’d like to thank our fantastic school community who were behind us all the way in raising both awareness and funding.”
The school has received donations totalling almost £1,000, which will go towards the national Social Bite project.
