Plans to transform a “dangerous” former church building into a house have been approved.
The outbuilding of St Margaret’s Church, on Ballater Road in Aboyne, was purchased by a local couple who hoped to transform it into a workshop and storage space.
The building, which is more than 100 years old, was visited by engineers who found the structure to be in a “dangerous state”.
A damaged roof had bowed and cracked, leading to its granite walls being pushed outwards.
Plans to partially demolish and rebuild the outbuildinghave now been approved.
A council report stated: “The proposed demolition and reconstruction of the listed building is necessary due to the severity of the structural damage.
“The design would not negatively impact upon the character the C Listed building or the conservation area. “
