A betting shop employee has told a jury how a knife was held to her throat during a robbery at her shop in the north-east.

Jade Williams, 24, told the High Court in Edinburgh how a masked man threatened her with the blade as he demanded she open the safe at the Coral Bookmakers in Aberdeen’s Cornhill Shopping Arcade on October 27 2016.

Ms Williams said the man and an accomplice made-off with more than £2,000 of takings before she and colleague Craig Mackland managed to raise the alarm.

The witness “I felt scared. I felt sad. I felt angry.”

Ms Williams was giving evidence on the fourth day of proceedings against Warren Keating, 29, Darren Summers, 30, and 24-year-old Jeff Binnie.

Prosecutors claim that Keating and Summers, both of Liverpool, robbed the Coral branch.

The Crown also claims that Keating, Summers and Binnie, of Aberdeen, conspired to murder a man called Henry Stephen, an alleged drug dealer.

The three men deny the charges brought against them.

On Tuesday, Ms Williams told the court she and her colleague had been working in the betting shop when two men entered with their faces covered.

One of the robbers is said to have grabbed her and threatened her with a knife.

Ms Williams said: “They took me to the safe. They pushed me down on the ground and held a knife at my throat.

“One of the men demanded that I open the safe. He sounded like a Scouser.”

She clarified that she meant he had “a Liverpool accent”.

Ms Williams said that she accidentally locked the safe, causing the man to swear at her.

She said that the men got her colleague Craig to open the safe and that they made off with the money which was being stored there.

She said: “I don’t know the exact figure but I know it was over £2,000.”

The shop worker then said that after the men left, she pressed a panic button whilst Craig phoned police.

Prosecutors claim the two men wore masks and assaulted Ms Williams and Mr Mackland by brandishing knives at them.

It’s also claimed that Mr Keating, Mr Summers and Mr Binnie conspired to kill Mr Stephen at various locations in Aberdeen between September 2016 and November 2016.

The three men are also standing trial on firearms and drugs offences.

They have pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The trial continues.
