Two men, who assaulted a 17-year-old and threatened him with a machete, have been jailed.

Nicholas Lambert, 26, and Wayne Strachan, 29, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday for sentencing.

Lambert and Strachan admitted assaulting Rhys Clark, who was 17 at the time of the incident, between March 1 and March 26 at Grant Court, Peterhead last year.

The two, who are prisoners at HMP Grampian, also admitted repeatedly pushing him on the body, shouting and swearing at him, seizing him by the hair and demanding his mobile telephone, threatening him with physical violence and presenting a machete “or similar implement” at him.

The court was shown video footage of Strachan and Lambert shouting and swearing at Mr Clark.

On a separate charge, Strachan and Ryan Macrae, 22, admitted assaulting Frazier Bell on July 20 last year at Lumsden Court in Huntly.

Lambert was jailed for 10 months, placed on a restriction of liberty order for five months and was put on supervision for a year.

Strachan was imprisoned for 14 months.

Macrae, whose address was given as McFadden Crescent, Inverurie, was placed on an 18-month supervision requirement and a six-month restriction of liberty.

Sheriff Philip Mann called the offences “shocking”.

When speaking to Strachan, he said: “Nothing except a custodial sentence will deal with your part in that assault.”
