The building wasn’t damaged nor was anyone injured but Police are keen to highlight the potential dangers.
Aviemore based Constable Louise Thewlis said: “Local enquires have established that there is a growing trend involving children and youths entering the building through an unsecure window on the first floor and carrying out petty vandalisms within.
“Due to the disrepair of the buildings, this behaviour is extremely dangerous and Police are keen to challenge and robustly deal with anyone found on the premises.
“Local officers will continue to work with partner agencies including the local authority and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to ensure the entry points on the building which have been damaged are secured to discourage people from entering and putting their lives in danger.”
“We would also urge parents to speak with their children to highlight the dangers involved in entering derelict buildings such as the old school.
“The risks include being trapped or injured within; a lack of lighting and power sources would also make any rescue attempt very difficult for emergency services.”
Anyone with information on the incident on concerns relating to anti-social behaviour is encouraged to contact 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
