VIDEO: Motorist darts out of the way of a Stagecoach bus not using its lights

A motorist has shared footage of his near-miss with a bus – which did not have its lights on in the dark.

The Macduff man, who does not want to be identified, claims he did not see the bus until the “last minute” and had to squeeze between two parked vehicles to let it past.

And he was left furious after the bus driver, who was headed to Aberdeen, flashed as if to blame him for nearly causing the smash.

The incident, captured on a dash cam, happened on the evening of October 7 on Skene Street.

Last night, a spokeswoman for Stagecoach said they would investigate the matter with their driver, but suggested the car driver should have given way.

The man behind the footage said he did not see the bus until the “last minute”.

“I have a lot more of these on my laptop, from a head cam on my motorbike,” he added.

“If you think car drivers have it bad, try being a biker.”

Fortunately, he was able to squeeze his car between two parked vehicles to let the bus past.

It is at that point the bus flashes angrily at the biker.

He added: “The bus was heading up the road, but was near impossible to see until it was right in front of me.

“Luckily, there was space to pull in between cars before it got any more serious.

“No harm, no foul – but for the cheek of her to flash at me when as far as I was aware the road was clear to pass.”

A spokeswoman for Stagecoach said: “All of our drivers go through extensive professional training before driving our vehicles.

“The video shows that the other driver appears to have chosen not to give our vehicle right of way when there were a number of safe opportunities to do so. We will investigate this matter with our driver.”
