A retired north-east teacher has died in hospital 10 days after a two-car crash.
Dorothy Cruickshank, 66, was one of six people to be taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the smash on the A90 Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road, at the Toll of Birness, on April 5.
Mrs Cruickshank, from Hatton, had been a passenger in a Volkswagen Passat when it collided with a white Peugeot 207.
Last night, police confirmed she died in hospital on Saturday.
It is understood Mrs Cruickshank was a teacher at Meethill Primary in Peterhead and St Fergus Primary before her retirement, and was heavily involved in her local church, where she taught Sunday school and helped with teas.
Her family were too upset to speak about the tragedy last night.
A police spokeswoman confirmed a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
The other casualties from the crash near Peterhead were the 70-year-old driver of the Volkswagen and four 18-year-olds within the Peugeot, who all suffered serious injuries.
The incident, which happened at about 6pm on April 5, resulted in the Peugeot landing on its side.
Police appealed for witnesses in its aftermath and also for any dash-mounted camera footage of the cars at the scene.
The road was closed for around nine hours for accident investigators to examine the road.
Local councillor Gillian Owen last night expressed her sympathy with the families involved.
She said: “I’m shocked and saddened to hear that one of the people involved in the accident around the Toll of Birness on April 5 has succumbed to their injuries.
“Today being particularly poignant – Easter Sunday – my thoughts go to their family and friends, but also my attentions turn to the others that were involved and I hope that they are recovering.”
