PREVIEW: Clach v Huntly

Clach will look to build on last weekend’s 3-2 win at Keith when struggling Huntly visit Grant Street Park on Highland League business today.

Lilywhites full back Andrew Skinner said: “Both Keith and ourselves were pretty low on confidence last weekend, so it was good to get another win under our belts after a poor run of form.

“Hopefully, we can keep it going at home to Huntly.

“We have had a bit of an up-and-down season. We started pretty well after winning the Highland League Cup at the end of last term but we have been hit by a lot of injuries and have had to drag out the results recently.

“I hope last week’s win at Kynoch Park will kick-start our season. We are sitting in a false position in the table.

“We don’t want to get detached but we are good enough to get ourselves back into the top half of the table.”

Reflecting on his own performance this term, the 20-year-old added: “I have been playing at full back, right and centre midfield this season but I am happy to play anywhere.

“Huntly will be hurting after the surprise defeat by Fort William last weekend. They are a very physical team, especially on a heavy pitch, so we will have to be on our guard.”

Under-fire Huntly manager Gregg Carrol is hoping for an improvement of last weekend’s error-strewn 4-0 defeat by Fort William at Christie Park.

Carrol said: “I am looking for a much-improved performance at Clach but we need to start to do more things right than we do wrong, as when we do that we are a good side.

“There is nothing difficult to understand, the players just need to grow up a bit and put a lot more thought into their game.

“We need about four or five new players. That would get us competing at the level we should be at.”

Huntly will be without suspended midfielder Craig Dorrat and there is a doubt over centre half Sam McKenzie but midfielder Thomas Johnston is out injured.
