Up-and-coming Moray bands have been offered the chance to support a high-profile Scottish group when they visit the region next month.

Dundee rockers The View will perform at The Loft, by Kinloss, on Friday, September 9.

The veterans of the national scene are best known for hit single Same Jeans, which soared up the UK singles chart in 2007.

Staff at The Loft are now appealing for a local act to warm up the crowd before they take to the stage in Moray.

Manager Victoria Butler estimates that an audience of up to 400 fans will flock to the venue to see The View.

She added: “This is exciting for young bands, I imagine that would be the largest crowd many of our hopefuls have played in front of.

“After we arranged for The View to play, the promoters told me they were still looking for support acts and I suggested we offer it to some local groups.

“It’s a big opportunity for them.”

The Loft has been flooded with queries since launching the appeal online yesterday.

Management have requested that any further inquiries be directed to the venue’s Facebook page or emailed to theloft@eastgrange.co.uk, along with details about the group and links to songs where possible.

The View’s performance at Kinloss will form part of a brief tour before the band plays the Barrowlands in Glasgow a fortnight later.
