A derelict office block in Aberdeen city centre will be transformed into dozens of affordable flats.
The ground floor of Exchequer House on Exchequer Row, just off Union Street, is occupied by the G Casino.
But council officers have now granted consent to the Swan Group to use the other four floors for 37 new homes.
Swan Group has a track record of working with housing associations and managing director Phil McGinlay said the development would fit the city centre masterplan’s aim of attracting more people into town.
He said: “It’s great to have an opportunity in Aberdeen city centre to develop affordable housing.
“Our project will transform Exchequer House, rejuvenating an existing and disused building.
“We’re committed to helping Aberdeen deliver its city centre masterplan and this project is a significant step in the right direction.”
Mr McGinlay added: “By working hard to build more high quality affordable housing across the UK, we’re creating much needed sustainable communities.
“This is an exciting project for Swan Group and we’re looking forward to starting work at Exchequer House, helping to bring more people into the city centre.”
