The investigation into the death of a man at a north-east home over the weekend is continuing.

Police were called to the Westshore Gardens area of Fraserburgh at around 10.25am on Saturday and discovered the body of the man.

A semi-detached home on the affordable housing estate was cordoned off while specialist forensic officers combed the area, only yards from a children’s play park.

Officers also carried out door-to-door inquiries.

Last night a police spokeswoman said the probe into the case is continuing and the man’s death is still being treated as “unexplained”.

No further details have been released by the authorities however it is understood the body was that of an Eastern European man.

The discovery of the body left many in the neighbourhood shaken and one man described the scene as “like something out of CSI”.

Westshore Gardens is an affordable housing scheme built six years ago at the cost of £15million. It replaced the former Marconi Road, an area so notorious for crime that it was known locally as “The Bronx”.

As part of the 58-home estate CCTV cameras were installed. The area has seen a major decrease in issues including assaults, disturbances and public drinking.
