It was a momentous day for one Shetland graduate when she collected her degree in Management Studies from Aberdeen University.
At the climax of years of hard work and dedication, Hannah Williamson was all smiles as she exited her graduation ceremony after being awarded her degree yesterday.
Indeed, it was clear that during her degree course, she had experienced the time of her life, both inside and outside the classroom.
The 23-year-old said: “Throughout [my time at] university, there have been so many amazing moments, but one of the highlights for me wasn’t actually an academic one but it was when I won the first women’s rugby match, it was such a fantastic experience.
“Especially as, when we started out for the first 10 games or so, we got slaughtered 100-0, so to get that first win with my fellow team mates was just fantastic.
“The friendships I have built and the memories we have all shared will last a lifetime.”
Speaking of her experience as a student, she said that whilst it seemed to have gone past in a flash, she would do it all over again, and encouraged anyone who is working through their degrees to stick with it until the end.
Ms Williamson said: “I can’t believe that, after four years of hard work, it has all come down to today, it all still seems quite surreal.
“I feel as if the whole thing truly has gone by in about 10 seconds, but I think that shows what an amazing experience I have had here and today is just the icing on the whole experience.
“I have met so many wonderful people and to anyone who might be struggling though university at the moment, I urge you to stick at it, because to finally get your degree is the most unbelievable feeling.
“The more mountains you have to climb to get there, the greater the prize at the end.”
