A £47million finance deal for Aberdeen’s new secondary school in the south of the city has been agreed.
Council chiefs and development partner hub North Scotland have now signed the deal to allow building work to begin.
Preparatory work has already began on site, with full construction works now set to follow.
Work on the facility is due to be completed by mid-June 2018.
On completion, the three-storey building will cater for up to 1,350 pupils from the Torry, Kincorth, Nigg and Cove areas of the city.
Included in the plans are a dance studio, fitness suite, games hall, six lane swimming pool, an adjacent garden and 3G pitch.
Education convener Angela Taylor said: “The new facility demonstrates our firm commitment to the future generations of Aberdeen and it is important we have now signed off the financial arrangements which will allow construction to begin.”
Balfour Beatty has been appointed as the project’s main contractor, with Robertson FM as the facility’s FM service provider for repairs and maintenance work.
Angus Macfarlane, chief executive of hub North Scotland, said: “Financial close is an important milestone for the new south of the city facility and paves the way for the construction of the school to progress.”
