Community events for vulnerable citizens in Ellon and Turriff

Events will take place this week to help “vunerable residents” who don’t feel confident attending police stations or council offices to seek help.

The next phase of Formartine Community Engagement events take place in December following the success of previous events earlier this year.

Police have teamed up with Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership to bring together more representatives of various services.

Inspector Andy Scott said: “These are partner focused events offering face-to-face contact with our communities to identify areas of concern and issues.

“Whilst it is widely acknowledged there is already accessible means in which the public can contact each agency, many do not want to attend police stations, council offices and so on and are not comfortable using social media platforms.

“It is often these individuals who form the majority of our most vulnerable citizens and as such the community surgeries will continue to encourage them to come along and address the most relevant agency with their concerns.”

On Friday, the surgery will be held at the Ythan Centre in Ellon from 10am-noon.

It will then move to Turriff Primary School’s community room from 1.30pm to 3.30pm that same day.

The event will be attended by police, fire and council representatives as well as officials from NHS Grampian, Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership, Aberdeenshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership.
